When What’s In Front of You Just Seems Too Big

Have you ever had a task in front of you and started thinking, God, I can’t do this! I don’t know what to do or say!

What to do when what’s in front of you just sees too big.

Today I want to share a tip with you to help you overcome the overwhelm that you feel when fulfillment, prosperity, and purpose are on the horizon.

When what’s in front of you just seems too big

When I first started this site, I was scared out of my mind.  I was nervous thinking what am I going to say up here. Though I knew the information would help people change their lives, I was a nervous wreck. I’ve never written about money before and leading up to launch of my blog Break Free And Win I was scared out of my mind.

Well, here’s the thing: I had just finished the process of breaking free from $60,000 of debt in 18 months.  Boy, was it a process. But after learning how to manage God’s money well we are no longer slaves to debt.  In fact, my entire relationship with money has completely changed. So now I had two choices – to help somebody else or stay silent. While I felt God had called me to do this, what He was asking me to do was far beyond anything I had ever done before.

There I was, insecure and scared, planning one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done. Putting myself out there and starting a PERSONAL blog. I do NOT enjoy being front and center. I like the background. Since I was going to be doing the writing, I wanted to deliver quality information. I just didn’t think I had it in me.  But I needed to share what I’ve learned about money to help someone else change their life. And it was all just too big.

I remember sitting in front of my computer thinking, God, I can’t do this. I don’t know what to do or say!

So, I did what I always do when I’m freaking out: I opened my Bible and started reading.  Of all places the words I needed were in the book of Chronicles. {Chronicles is not my go to for motivation, just saying}

“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always”.

1 Chronicles 16:11

This was so helpful.  It helped me see that instead of single mindedly pursuing a goal I should ALWAYS talk to God about it. It reminded me that if the goal fits into God’s plan for me He will definitely help me reach it.  This was a powerful reminder in that moment that if God wants me to do it, even if I feel weak and insecure – if I keep Him first and seek His face He will give me the strength to do it.  The same is true for you. Our God is a good God!  I’m thankful because this also means that if we seek Him – if the thing we are doing or trying to do is contrary to His plan, He can change our heart.

So, whatever you’re pursuing or trying to accomplish remember to save your best striving for seeking God’s face first.  He’ll help you with the rest.

So even if you’ve been paralyzed by fear or freaking out at the next new big dream you’ve got in your heart, don’t forget Who gave you that dream to begin with. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NIV) says: “The One Who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” I love that! He never said it would be easy, fast or fearless, but if He calls you He will do it”.

That’s why I started this site and I’m glad I did.  The goal is simply to help you manage the money and time God has given you well so that you can live a life you love!  So, if getting your money organized and under control seems like a daunting task, know it doesn’t have to be. Just like I was able overcome the broke and broken stages of life, you can too. And I want to help you do it!

So, the next time you have a when whats in front of you just seems too big kind of moment give yourself some grace because when it’s too big for us, that’s a perfect opportunity to turn it over to the Lord. Give yourself this friendly, loving reminder as often as needed:
1. “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always”
2. “The One Who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.”
God’s got you and because He has you, you’ve got this!
